Laocoon

2003

Fiberglass
280 x 190 x 150 cm

In Greek mythology Laocoon is the Trojan priest who warned his fellow citizens about the crafty Greeks, but who was swallowed by sea serpents sent by Poseidon, the god of the sea. In AVL’s take on this classic sculptural theme, the figures merge into an amorphous form. Body parts meld and are distorted in a celebration of friendship and unity.
